SuPeR SaTuRdAy

This year, Super Saturday had the theme of "Be Beary Prepared". Even though there were the traditional Super Saturday arts and crafts, we also had some wonderfully inspired (and fun) activities. For instance:

Tiffany Flake gave the most informative and entertaining presentation on canning, and Adele Atwood showed us how to make the most delicious homemade rolls. In between classes, we took a few moments to tie quilts for charity.

To add a some food fun, we held a contest for "Best dish made from food storage" .

We had many entries, but it was Polly Stanley's recipe for Taco Casserole that took home the prize!

There was jewelry making....

Friend making...

And just making fun!

The event ended with everyone taking home a wrapped teddy bear as a reminder to "Be Beary Prepared"!

From the opening song (especially prepared for Super Saturday, and sung by our new Relief Society Presidency), to the food, to the conversation, to the fun, the whole day was spent learning, enjoying and remembering how wonderful it is to be apart of a faith that loves and gives SO MUCH to each other. Thank you to EVERYONE who helped. Without you, Super Saturday would not have been so ~ Beary Special~.

Family Home Evening Ideas....

~Candle Light Night ~

On nights when you are without much time for FHE, a suggestion would be to turn out all the lights and read a story out of the Friend or New Era by candle light. Then, do "Don't Eat Pete" as the activity, hot chocolate, popcorn or what ever is on hand for treat. On more organized nights you could try to do F.H.E at dinner by candlelight.

Don't Eat Pete:

1. Set the following printout(http://www.ldssplash.com/fhe/fhe_games/petechart.htm) on a table.

2. Put a piece of candy in the middle of each square.

3. Send one person out of the room. Everyone remaining in the room agree on which piece of candy on the chart will be "Pete".

4. Once decided, the person re-enters the room and starts eating pieces of candy from the chart. As soon as that person picks up "Pete" everyone at the table yells "DON'T EAT PETE!" the game continues until everyone has had one or two turns to leave the room.
